Description of Activities Offered

Reading, Writing and Hot Computer Fun: Grades k-12, 4 Sessions per Day

            In kindergarten through twelfth grade   settings, Bill Dallas Lewis brings in all of his state of the art, computer equipment ,   plugging it into four big screen TV's or an LCD Display.   He shares with students the importance of staying in school, dreaming, reading, and growing. He takes them through the writing process.   Then he shows them how he creates the computer graphics, animations and sound effects. Finally he shares with them the future of technology and how they will use it to do great things.

                                              Artist in Residence            

            Bill works with students and teachers in two day to nine day residency programs.    He take students through brainstorming, developing an Issue to write about, breaking the story into three parts (the beginning, the middle, the end), developing characters, writing the story, rewriting the story and rewriting the story.   Using this process, he then takes the students into production.   He has worked with schools and teachers to produce, videos, professionally published hard back children's books, Interactive software, and web sites of purpose.

Lectures, Workshops, Teacher In services

            Bill Dallas Lewis has conducted teacher's in services throughout the country.   Either as a keynote speaker, or in workshop settings, he has shared with teachers, how to   create a professional hard back children's book, how to create interactive software in the classroom, how to create video projects in the classroom, how to develop web sites of purpose,   and how to develop long term, creative writing projects.   Many times these are hands on settings, working with computers.

 

Artist Narrative

            Bill Dallas Lewis is a graduate of Dartmouth College, with a Master's Degree from the Ohio State University.   He created Silly Billy's World in 1992.   Since then he has authored and Illustrated parts one through three of "The Read, Then Read More Series."   The theme in all of his books and videos is that "Through Reading, Anyone can do Anything."  

            Bill has been invited into more than 600 schools, conferences, workshops, and museums   from California to England.    With his state of the art, talking computer, "Henry,"   he shares with kindergartners as well as school superintendents how to integrate the fun of writing, graphics, and computers into the classroom.

            Bill uses a wide range of graphics, video, animation, sound, and layout software programs.   From $25.00 programs to state of the art $5,000.00 programs, audiences are amazed at how the computer (and a couple of dollars) can empower the individual.
