When I first started illustrating children’s books back in the 90’s, Adobe Illustrator was the first professional graphic design program that I bought. I think it cost me around $600.00 back then.
I couldn’t figure out a single thing. Even after reading books and everything else. I gave up.
In 1999, a graphics school for corporate designers wanted me to teach Adobe Photoshop, html, css Flash and Dreamweaver to their clients. They said they would train me in Adobe Illustrator, IN AND OUT.
I taught Adobe Illustrator to designers for 6 years. I know more about Illustrator than I want to know. Illustrator is strange. It has many strange rules that you would never figure out on your own. Illustrator will drive you nuts if you don’t know what you’re doing.
