My name is

Phyllis Huffman

and I have enjoyed working with children on a professional basis at the first, third and fourth grade levels. I graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio in 1969 and obtained my teacher certification from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1971. My current teaching assignment consists of a self-contained, third grade classroom at Holbrook Elementary School in Lebanon, Ohio. this typical Midwestern city has a population of 12,000.

My husband and I have two daughters who will be attending college during the 1996-1997 school year. Due to my family's educational experiences, I realize the importance of encouraging curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning itself. Success in these experiences has focused on sound reading, writing, and research skills.Phyllis Huffman.

Having just completed my seventeenth year of teaching, I realize the importance of using a variety of materials that appeal to different learning styles as well as varying abilities. We often use literature to teach and supplement the PPO's (Pupil Performance Objectives) and textbooks adopted by our school district. Reading appreciation, writing, and beginning research skills are a part of the many projects done in our current third grade classroom.

I look forward to sharing classroom ideas and classroom projects that turn learning on for our third grade students at Holbrook. I am committed to submit ideas that will provide sound educational instruction while challenging children in a variety of ways.
