Before you start writing your soon to be national best seller, you need to get your organization set up. Look at these groups, and get busy. Remember, if you have any questions or get confused, e-mail me. I'll help you out...............Promise ; ) Editing BoardOne from each classroom. Teachers should choose the member. This should not be a popularity contest. Please do not select a student that is smart, but quiet. The Editing Board Member's job is to take his or her classroom's ideas to the editing board for full consideration. This person should be able to listen to others, but have the ability to give their classroom's ideas to the Group. The Senior Editing BoardThis group school be made up of three teachers or staff members. They make the final decisions as to what comes out of the Editing Board. These teachers will have lots of work to do, but in the end they will be very happy that they took the project and worked it out to the end. The Illustration BoardAfter the story is complete, each student in the school will draw a picture about some part of the story. That means some 500 or more pictures. The Illustration board will go through the pictures and decide which pictures (50 to 60) depict scenes that will help the story. They are judges. They will meet only once or twice in the entire process. Computer IllustratorsDepending on the type of Computers you have will tell us if you can have computer Illustrators. If you have Apple IIes, forget it. Let me know what you have and we will take it from there. If we don't use computers, we can still do the illustrations. We need 15 of the schools most talented artist to do the work, that is, draw the pictures. Some students will draw people, some will draw things, some will draw backgrounds. In the end, all images will be scanned and merged into a final product. The Marketing BoardThis group has to sell the product. They should all be 4th Grade and up. There should be Three to Five of these students. They will be responsible for press releases, mailings to parents to sell the book, developing a list of 1000 corporations that would want to give money to the project. The Layout CommitteeTwo members of the Editing Board and Three
of the Illustrators will sit down and decide where every word and
every picture in the book will go. This process will take place
after the story has been written and the pictures have been drawn. |
